Politics and elections

The current mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski leads the first round of the Polish presidential elections with 31.36% of the vote against his conservative rival Karol Nawrocki 29.54%. As no candidates received more than 50% of the vote, a runoff between the two candidates is expected to be held on June 1. Sławomir Mentzen secured a significant 14.81%, while Grzegorz Braun 6.34%, indicating a substantial right-wing electorate that can decide the final outcome. Left-wing candidates gathered over 9%.
